Ibrik Coffee

Ripped shamelessly from my Urbanspoon review – "Claude Sawaya runs a fantastic cafe on Lorimer Street that’s fast becoming a popular oasis of caffienated goodness in a windswept industrial wasteland. The atmosphere inside is warm, bright and jovial and when Claude starts talking about coffee you can easily see why; the guy is always smiling and is seriously passionate about his job.
I tried the brewed Ibrik of coffee on recommendation and was very happy with it. The coffee has an initial hint of bitterness that fades into a nice, strong punch with an aftertaste of cardamom pod. No sugar or milk is necessary for this coffee as the turkish delight that comes with it rounds the flavour out nicely. A workmate who came along tried the takeaway latte and has gone away a convert.
For the hungry people out there, there’s pizzas, coffee, wraps, coffee, sandwiches, cakes and did I mention there’s more coffee…so there’s plenty of excuses to settle in and take a long lunch over a good, well…coffee!
It’s a bit of a walk from where I work but the quality of the product and the friendly atmosphere is more than enough to keep me making the trip."

Espresso escape

I placed simple studio flash with a softbox to the right. The light is bounced by a dark blue cardboard to left to get a complementary color of the orange table. The 300W was set to 1/4 and triggered by an on-camera Speedlite 430 EX that pointed to a white wall for some additional fill light. I used the self timer to drop the sugar cube a moment before the release.
My first espresso

So I had heard that there was a coffee culture in all of Europe, especially France and Italy. This Illy cup represents the first of an inumerable amount of espressos that I ordered over the course of 45 days.
