FinalCall007′s dysfunction is one of being unable to seperate hype from reality. A complete lack of the ability to understand that when he hears the term “drug”, it does not refer to illegal (here in the US) narcotics or mood altering drugs used recreationally. This sort of mental defect is woefully common in the world.

@GreatBigBore yeah, I suppose. His best book is actually his introductory textbook to the New Testament. Lost Christianities is also good.

So Ehrman repeats himself in this one? I’ve only read one of his books. Would “Forged” be a good summary of his work?

@WildwoodClaire1 And not to beat this to death (I hope,) but Tony Curtis — DAYUMN! One of the top 5 performances I’ve ever seen by any actor — ever.

What a film. Even Martin MILNER was good in it. =)

@WildwoodClaire1 It WAS ahead of its time, along with Robert Aldrich’s mind-boggling “Kiss Me Deadly.”

The 50s were, actually, a pretty adventurous time for Hollywood film. The Anthony Mann/James Stewart westerns, even with the happy endings, presented a much darker, more ambiguous version of the Jimmy Stewart hero. Then again, Mann started out with some of the toughest, darkest films noir ever made.

What MacKendrick and Hecht/Lancaster did with “Sweet Smell’ was a film noir without a hero.

@ThisClownis2in1 oh, so now rape’s a European thing, is it? well, that’s just great. Maybe we have the Nazi flower, too?

@is3it7lonar I think the film was relatively unsuccessful in its first run because the fifties were a time when Americans demanded shining, unambiguous heros and happy endings.

Hey, y’know, Wetlandsremediation sounds exactly like John Carradine!
Finally, I saw your credits where “Absolam2″ misspelled his own username. What cracks me up is that he apparently did it TWICE!!
