11th Course Dessert Sampling: Okinawa Doughnut & Coffee Milkshake

My server presented this dessert as the "Okinawa doughnut" and gave a short blurb about its history, which could be traced back past its "origin" in Japan back to the Chinese. While informative, and I’m sure accurate, I found the story a bit gimmicky. I think I would have appreciated the presentation a lot more if the server personalized the doughnut to ame by saying something like, "This doughnut recipe is from Chef Hiro Sone’s family," or something like that… of course, only if it is true.
The doughnut was dusted with cinnamon-sugar. The inside was more bready and dry than I had expected. I left it mostly uneaten. The coffee milkshake, which had been spiked withi a heady shot of Kahlua was OUTSTANDING.
Take the coffee of iron.
