Spirulina, an algae known for its nutritional benefits for hundreds of years in Mesoamerica and Africa, is only now coming on our radar in the USA. It’s high in B vitamins, proteins (actually has more protein than just about anything else, and is a complete protein at that), and contains ALL of the essential amino acids. Here’s a recipe that’s delicious and easy to make – enjoy! www.aluminouslife.com www.rawkout.com www.twitter.com/charismb

@Misstee1089 It’s 70% digestible protein(or something like that) so yes and no, its not high caloric wise, but the amino acid benefits are insane

@mreisma Thanks for the info. Spirulina is too sticky to shake, it would just turn into little globs which would taste pretty gross. Hence the paste, and slowly thinning it out :)

@Misstee1089 – No, spirulina actually helps you lose weight, since it’s many nutrients are so quickly absorbed by the body.

@Misstee1089 Spirulina has a lot of protein, so I suppose if you were exercising and having spirulina afterward to try to bulk up, then yes, it would help you put on muscle. If you’re talking about gaining weight as fat, I’ve never heard of this happening. I do know that I, along with other veggers sometimes have trouble keeping enough weight ON in cold weather (burn too many calories shivering!) and spirulina helps that.
But actually I think it’s better for weight LOSS.

@Andynz1974 I’m glad you like it! It’s a great source of protein and vitamins – I notice a definite difference in my energy, alertness, and even my skin when I drink it. It’s also FANTASTIC for drinking after a workout instead of those empty sports drinks!

Thank you for your video. I have your book ‘The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook’ and was wondering where’s best to buy the American-style cupcake/muffin cases online?

Oh and its a great book btw :-)
