Coffee Shop

Seaside has to be one of the most photographed places in the South. Yes, there are Savannah and New Orleans and a few other spots that just draw photographers like flies to sweet tea, but Seaside has really been worked over. Don’t get me wrong. I have been coming down here for over 20 years and I still enjoy the sugar-sand beaches and the wistful architecture but, if we are honest with ourselves, it is pretty boring to photograph. Someone has already gotten the best possible angle, under the best possible light, with the best gear money can buy and the rest of us are just sifting through their leftovers. Often, there are some great night shots to be had, but it has been overcast or raining. So, wandering around and sticking my camera into strange spots was about all I could come up with. Seaside is a great place to spend some time, the food is fresh and the atmosphere of the town is pretty evocative. I’m only pointing out that it’s a bit overexposed. Now that I have gotten that little rant out of the way, here are some shots I came up with. Otherwise I have spent my morning rewiring some exterior light fixtures and doing a line-by-line run through of a new maintenance proposal for our house down here, so don’t jump down my throat for grousing about being in Florida.
