Coffee flavor is located inside the bean. The bean gases are released upon grinding. So wh en you taste pre-ground coffee it may be great right after it is opened. However, many of the gases will be trapped in the vacuum pack, but the flavor will deteriorate after just a few days. But with whole bean coffee, most of the flavor remains trapped safely within the bean.

My opinion is that the Whole Bean coffee is the way to go every time.
