港式咖啡 HK-style Coffee – Pacific BBQ Cafe

Pacific BBQ Cafe lunch specials include 港式奶茶 HK-style tea or 港式咖啡 coffee. Good value!

Jeff spied a good looking 豉汁牛肉饭 black bean beef on a table next to us, so that’s what he got. From what I gather, it was pretty good.

Although the girl next to me tempted me with bowl of noodles with pig skin, pig blood and stewed daikon, I’m always partial to fish balls, which were quite good. The beef tendon balls were good too, but had a bit too much gristle in it. The soup wasn’t as good a Kum Den’s fish ball noodles soup I’d had yesterday though :)

Today is/was the first day of a self imposed week of photos. Markfieldingpic suggested that we shot a week of medium format film. All the shots are pretty much SOOC (straight out of camera) or as much as they can be when scanned.

The other rules are that it must be a 6cmX4.5cm (654 format) shot… (which is lucky as I have a 645 back for my Kiev 88) and we must use an 80mm lens (this rule was so we didn’t have to lug too many lenses around)

I have also decided to shoot the week in Illford HP5+ black and white film… so I can develop it all myself ;D

So now you know the rules what’s the shot above all about?

The evening started with a kind invite by MartinQ to his somewhat bleated house warming party. He put on a particularly good buffet spread and a good selection of home made cakes ;D

I realised just after I arrived that somehow I managed to lock my car keys in the car! Using little more than a coat hanger, a curtain pole, and a little ingenuity and some assistance (thank-you) I was able to effect a break-in and recover said keys… this was much to the amusement of some of the locals lads who came over to laugh help ;D

Anyway after that I was kindly invited (by the two ladies in this shot) to go to a late night session by a local band called Eskimo Cowboy at the Nexus Art Cafe in the Northen Quarter of Manchester. Late night gigs can be a bit variable as you never know what your going to get, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not going to go into too much detail but suffice to say that if they are appearing anywhere near you they’re well worth a listen. so check out their MySpace page for more info.

And finally that leads us to this shot of a cup from the Nexus Art Cafe up until I walked through the door I was blissfully unaware of it’s existence. They describe thenselves as a "… not-for-profit, community arts space" as entry to the venue was free I though it certainly wouldn’t do them any harm to give them a plug here ;)
